Gear: Run & Gun

In my previous post I mentioned that I shot a project for Viz Media at the Anime Expo. A lot of the material I shoot for them goes on Blu-Ray/DVD featurettes so I can't provide any final product shots for specific reasons. But I can show you guys what I use! :)

For the Anime Expo project I shot BTS, B-roll, and OTF interviews. It was an all day shoot with a lot of running around. Anime Expo was at the LA Convention Center, and so with all the running and shooting all over the convention center I packed light and only brought what I know I'll use.

Set A is my camera gear

1. Benro A48TD monopod
2. Nikon D3200 w/ battery grip, 35mm f/1.8
3. Rode videomic go on-camera
4. Rotolight RL48-B
5. 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6, 70-300mm f/4-5.6

Not pictured:
Extra en-el14 batteries + charger
Duracell Ion Speed charger + batteries
Headphones
[see previous gear post for photos]

Notes:
3. & 4. work so well with each other, but the rotolight weighs the mic down so a little DIY rigging to stabilize the unwanted movement will help. In this case I used grip tape, a little ghetto but it does the trick for now.

Set B is my audio gear for the OTF interviews (host style)

1. Stereo mini angled male to 3-Pin XLR female
2. Zoom H1
3. Samson dynamic microphone

Notes:
2. It amazes me how well the Zoom H1 does on all the shoots I've been on, it's inexpensive, light weight, portable, and it's easy to use! Don't mind the Ria label, it's my nickname/shorter name. And yes, I label all my gear (which is what everyone should be doing anyway!)
